Refining and elevating an IoT brand

Mesosphere (now D2iQ) is an American technology company that develops software for data centers based on Apache Mesos.

In 2018, the brand was starting to show its age. As such, our internal design team gave it a bit of a makeover to help modernize the brand and fix its pain points.

Refreshing the brand systems

With a low budget and no dedicated time to do a complete overhaul, we focused on a few areas: logo, color, illustration, and iconography styles. With some simple changes, we made vast improvements to the useability and functionality of the brand.

The brandbook and guidelines were all built in-house and I partnered with external partners to help build out the libraries to support the new guidelines. From there I partnered with our web team to make clear and simple edits to our codebase that would help bring these updates to our marketing quickly without much effort.

Renaming and new management

Unfortunately, this updated brand only lasted a little over a year. In 2019 the company renamed to D2IQ and took a completely new creative direction.
