Sexy audio stories for self-care

After launching their new mobile app in December 2019, Dipsea needed help extending and evolving the visual language within their product and elevating the experience overall.

I helped the internal team develop the aesthetic guidelines for art and illustrations on their platform as they began to offer a broader range of audio content. We worked together to codify the guidelines so the Dipsea team could commission pieces within their network of illustration partners, creating a more seamless experience.

Breaking down the project requirements

1
Auditing the existing story art for the content types that already exist and defining what is prototypical.

2
Exploring how different content typologies could be represented aesthetically within Dipsea. This required proving that existing art still works cohesively as part of the larger visual system, that visuals remain scalable at volume, and that there is a wide network of artists whose style is compatible with the new Dipsea guidelines.

3
Codifying the new principles into an expansive set of Artist Guidelines.

Sounds to keep you well

The guidelines went into use right away and you can see the early outcomes in Dipsea’s new Sleep and Wellness series. Visit dipseastories.com to see all of the wonderful artwork the Dipsea team is creating with the help of these guidelines.

All of the work seen here belongs to Dipsea and cannot be used or reproduced.
